CONFERENCING STEPS

REFLECTION
LISTEN: I believe that I listened well. I think my demeanor made my student feel comfortable discussing their writing with me.

REPHRASE: I thought my rephrasing could have been more descriptive and succinct.

POINT: I thought when I was pointing out what part of the writing that I liked, I could have used more detail from the writing. I asked the student about what they liked and asked them to give me more detail instead of using the writing.

TEACH: I was unfamiliar with how to properly teach sentence structure. I was sort of "winging it." I wish I had remembered to go back to the subject and verb description I used on the white board and have my student point out the subjects and verbs in his new sentences.
